Wait, WHAT? My Robot On TV?
Actually, no, it wasn’t. But I felt like it was.
I meant to post this a while back when I first heard of Transformers Prime, an animated series which aired in 2010 and is scheduled to air its 2nd season this year.
When I stumbled upon its promotional poster, my eyes immediately darted to the blue, feminine character by Optimus Prime.
Here’s some pictures of her (Arcee):
And here’s my robot from back in the day (Override):
See any similarities? I was astonished. If not, I know. I’m probably making myself see more than there really is. I almost feel cheated though. The color scheme, the forearms, her chest, her waist, and the two lightning-bolt-shaped pieces stuck onto the sides of her face. I even intended to stick a blue piece onto the back of her hand, but I didn’t bother to finish her hands at the time.
I know I’m stretching it pretty far… I’m just making it a bigger deal than it really is…
…and yet…
…part of me is saying “THERE WAS NO DEAL!”
All this makes me wonder what it would be like to ACTUALLY SEE your design/model on TV. Most of you probably didn’t even KNOW that there was a Transformers Prime series. But it wouldn’t make any difference to me whether a million people see my creation or just a few dozen.
…but a million would be nice.
Anyway, it’s been a LONG time since I touched this project. I can’t imagine rigging it anymore, but I have a renewed ambition to give it the details I’ve always wanted (gears, innards, an actual texture map possibly…).
I can’t wait until I have time.
Oh, and mine’s a Lamborghini, not a bike.
(I should probably add Lamborghini parts then.)
Feel free to comment. Do YOU think they look alike?
Daniel Craig Turnaround
Daniel Craig – Final

Here’s my finished model for Modeling and Texturing II.
Nothing much has changed. I modified the eye texture a bit, and edited the clothing.
I also tried hair several ways, but none of them looked good, so I scrapped it.
Thanks to all those who have critiqued in some way. Helped a LOT.
I might make changes in the future. Maybe?
Daniel Craig – WIP 5

Not perfect, but I’m running out of time, so I’m leaving it be.
This is the Maya file with a Displacement Map applied.
Time to work on the clothes… and HAIR.
Daniel Craig – WIP 4
Reworking some proportions. Closer? Hmm…
Daniel Craig – WIP 3
Here’s most of the facial wrinkles, pores, and whatnot. Intensities might change.
I thought he’d look more like the real person, but…. :/
Looks like I need to adjust some proportions still.

Haven’t done any sculpting yet. Hopefully it’ll look more like him after some Mudboxing.

Horned Lizard – Mudbox

I modeled a simple lizard head in Maya, and then pulled it into Mudbox.
Assignment for Modeling and Texturing II.
I stayed away from any default stencils/stamps and sculpted the scales by hand.
Julius the Roman

This is our fifth/sixth assignment in Modeling and Texturing II, where we are to replicate (from some reference pictures) a person that looks photorealistic.
We were given a few weeks for this project, so I decided to give the man Roman armor. His name’s Julius… and he looks like he belongs in armor.. SO I GAVE HIM ARMOR.
And his chin DOES look weird. THAT’S WHAT HIS CHIN LOOKS LIKE! (I tried to copy it, but it’s proving to be difficult. There’s just something so subtle about it… *stares*)
This is still a work-in-progress. I plan to add sandals… MAYBE a sword.
….But, jeez, this isn’t even the final project… WHAT AM I SETTING MYSELF UP FOR?!?!?
In Bloom – Models and FX
This is my work on “In Bloom”, a summer animation project at UTD in the Summer of 2010.
This was the first animation production I worked on. It was my first time exposed to the production pipeline.
I came into it with only hard surface modeling skills.
Toon Shaded Models

These are models that I made for the animated short. Textures are mainly toon shaders. I added some cracks to the ground with layered textures.

Finished more of the Audi R8!
Yuna – Then and Now
I’m not sure when I drew the first Yuna picture. Probably around the same time I drew the others in the post below: “Drawings from 2008.” As for the newer one, I drew it earlier this year with the aid of a tablet.
Drawings from 2008

So here are 3 decent drawings I stumbled upon in one of my sketchbooks. These were the most interesting.
The drawings are copied from Halo: ODST, Prince of Persia, and Final Fantasy XIII.
